From: Matt Sephton Subject: My Homage to Sensible Soccer Date: 16 Oct 2000 00:00:00 GMT X-Article-Creation-Date: Mon Oct 16 13:03:24 2000 GMT Newsgroups: alt.games.sensi-soccer Hello Sensi Fans, Prepare yourselves for an act of madness! I love Sensible Soccer so much I've decided to make a clone. I know it's not going to be as good as our hallowed classic, but I'm hoping it will satisfy our appetite for a more current football game to run on today's generation of PCs. I suppose Total Soccer goes some way to being this, but I just don;t like the way it looks, and it doesn't work on my computer! I hope the game will provide the following features: . solid game play (cloned from Sensible Soccer?) . higher resolution graphics (though still 2D) . internet play . tactics editor . team editor . management options . open source (eventually!) Currently I have the following working: . rudimentary graphics (borrowed from SWOS) . rudimentary sound effects (borrowed from SWOS) . scrolling pitch (manual using keys) . ball physics (manual using keys) My immediate to do list: . scrolling pitch (to follow ball automatically) . collision detection . player control . player/ball interaction . team AI . game play rules For those interested, I will be using Blitz Basic PC to make the game, so I can concentrate on game mechanics rather than actual coding. This will mean the destination platform will be Windows 9x/NT/2000 PCs capable of running DirectX. http://www.blitzbasic.com I'm not in need of much help at the moment, and won't need any testers for a long while! I suppose I'm just telling people who may be interested what I'm attempting to do. If there's enough interest I will set up an web page eGroup about my progress. I hope I'm not being too naive, and that people will show an interest. Anyway, if you feel you have any ideas, please let me know.
