Dottie is a native macOS app with no third-party dependencies, built for pixel art from the ground up. Release notes for each version are published on the Dottie website.
Your documents are first-class citizens on the Mac:
Thumbnails: .dottie files show their artwork as the file icon in the Finder, on the Desktop, and in open panels.
Quick Look: select a .dottie file and press Space for a full-size preview without opening the app.
Spotlight help: this manual is indexed, so the Help menu’s search field finds any topic.
.dottie—the native document: a package holding the palette, animation speed, and every layer as lossless PNG. Keeps everything editable.
.color-palette—a small JSON file holding a named palette, kept in Dottie’s app-container folder (reach it with the reveal-in-Finder button in the palette switcher).
