An iPad makes a great drawing surface for Dottie. Using Sidecar, your iPad becomes an extra display for your Mac, and Apple Pencil becomes a pressure-sensitive pen—no extra hardware or software needed.
On your Mac, click Control Centre in the menu bar, click Screen Mirroring, and choose your iPad. (Both devices need to be signed in to the same Apple Account.)
Move the Dottie window onto the iPad display, or use Window > Move to iPad.
Draw directly on the canvas with Apple Pencil.

Apple Pencil reports pressure through Sidecar, so with Tools > Pressure > Adjust Brush Size turned on, the nib size follows how hard you press—just like a dedicated pen tablet. Choose a response curve under Tools > Pressure > Curve to tune the feel.
Tip Keep the toolbox and palette in reach by leaving Dottie full-screen on the iPad—the Sidecar sidebar provides Command, Option, Control, and Shift keys so tool modifiers still work without a keyboard.
A stand-alone iPad version of Dottie is in development. It runs natively on iPadOS with full touch and Apple Pencil support, and shares its document format with the Mac app, so your .dottie files move freely between the two. Keep an eye on release notes for availability.
