Each document opens in its own window, and every window keeps its own state—tool, zoom, pan, and selection are all independent, so you can compare two sprites side by side at different zoom levels.
Dottie supports standard macOS window tabs:
Select pixels in one window, copy Command+C, switch window or tab, and paste Command+V—the pixels arrive as a floating selection, and their colours join the destination palette.
