← Back to Brutify
Changelog: Brutify
Version 1.1
2026-07-08
add:
- Quit after processing — optimise the files, then get out of your way
- Run without a window — fully headless, with no window and no Dock icon; if anything fails the window quietly opens so you can take a look
Both options are off by default and live in Settings, so a normal launch is unchanged.
Version 1.0.3
2026-07-02
- fix: a crash could occur when opening files with Brutify from Finder
Version 1.0.2
2026-06-30
fix:
- you can now type spaces when editing a tool's parameters in Settings
- switching between the Slow, Fast and Lossy tabs no longer carries an in-progress edit into the wrong tab
- Reset now reliably restores a tool's default parameters
Version 1.0.1
2026-06-17
add:
- pngout, a lossless PNG optimizer that often squeezes out a few extra bytes (available in Slow and Lossy modes)
- One-click pngout install, downloaded straight from the author's official mirror since its licence forbids re-hosting
change:
- Lossy PNG optimisation now cleans the colour of fully-transparent pixels for slightly smaller files (no visible change)
- Slow mode's empty-screen note is now a calm hint rather than a red warning (Lossy keeps its warning)
fix:
- "Keep metadata" now genuinely preserves it: zopflipng no longer strips text/EXIF/ICC chunks, and lossy PNG sits out when metadata must be kept
- File size shown after re-processing now reflects the already-optimised size, not the original
- Original file size is correctly preserved across multiple re-processing runs
- Bundled optimisers validated on macOS 12 and higher
- GIF optimisation could sometimes fail
tools:
- oxipng updated from 9.1.2 to 10.1.1
- cwebp updated from 1.4.0 to 1.6.0
