Make selections in Dottie on Mac

A selection limits where tools can paint and marks pixels for moving, copying, or deleting. Only the active layer is selected from.

Selection tools

Select Rectangle M and Select Oval I: drag out the shape.
Select Freehand U: draw around the area.
Select Polygon Y: click to place corners; click near the start point or double-click to close.
Select Wand W: click to select all connected pixels of that colour. Hold Control to select that colour everywhere on the layer, connected or not.

Combine selections

Hold a modifier as you start a new selection:

none	Replace the current selection.
`Shift`	Add to the selection.
`Option`	Subtract from the selection.
`Shift`+`Option`	Intersect—keep only the overlap.

Show/Hide Selection hides the marching-ants outline without dropping the selection—useful when the outline obscures the pixels you’re judging.

Grow Selection and Shrink Selection expand or contract the selection by one pixel—handy for making outlines and borders or tightening a mask. Shrinking keeps any edge that runs along the canvas bounds.
